The history of Wyoming Gourmet Beef and how it came to be what it is today

The Wyoming and ranching roots for Wyoming Gourmet Beef Founder & CEO, David Fales, began in 1918 when his great-grandparents, grandparents and 9-month-old father left Missouri to homestead in Deaver, Wyoming. Here they cleared sagebrush, planted crops, and raised cattle within a pristine, rugged environment.

David was born in Cody, Wyoming in 1949, and lived nearby on this farm and cattle-feeding operation in Powell, Wyoming. He grew up assisting his father in raising and feeding cattle and gained great respect for the Wyoming ranchers who endure bitter cold and all types of harsh weather conditions to raise great cattle.

Wyoming Authentic Breeds

Wyoming Authentic Breeds

Ranching is an essential component of Wyoming agriculture natural. Cattle farming is the state's primary agricultural industry. Raising a quality herd can generate substantial profits that can be used to build and expand your ranch. The four breeds listed below will fatten your wallet if you take the time to fatten up your herd before selling it.

Angus

The great quality of meat produced by Angus cattle, which were imported from Scotland in the late 1800s, is highly regarded. In the United States, they are the most well-known beef cow brand. According to some estimates, Angus cattle account for up to 60% of the Angus cattle market. Those that "meat" the American Angus Association's high requirements for marbling, rib-eye size, and hide color are the most expensive selection details. Our all-natural 1 oz. Wild Ginger Angus Beef Sticks has quickly become our most popular gourmet beef stick with no artificial ingredients or flavors. Locally sourced from Wyoming Ranches products.

Gelbvieh

This German import arrived in the United States in the 1970s and continues to work to improve the breed's standing in the American meat market. Meat quality has improved as a result of crossbreeding. In the United States, there are currently over 50,000 people. It's a market full of possibilities. Ranchers that enter the market early and establish their herd as a model for others can benefit handsomely.

Hereford

Hereford cattle have a high conversion rate and were first introduced from England in the early 1800s. As a result, they are a relatively inexpensive breed to raise in the area. Hereford cattle are short and robust, producing a valued meat product that is full of taste and sure to please even the most discerning palates.

Holstein

Holstein Friesian cattle are used by most American dairies to transport milk throughout the country. There are lots of areas to develop a herd and start a dairy business in Wyoming. Dutch colonizers created the breed, and it has since spread across the country. Holstein cattle are tough and hardy, and they prefer grazing on grass.

Importance of Using Local Grass-Fed, Grass-Finished Beef

We can see our cows in the fields and know that they are being raised in a humane manner. Choosing local farmers to supply our meat encourages the growth of the grass-fed beef industry in the area. Our cattle aren't shipped in from halfway around the world by boat or plane, saving you money on fossil resources and providing you with fresher, tastier local grass-fed beef jerky.

BENEFITS OF GRASS-FED BEEF

This means your cow was raised on pasture and is only fed grass. Grass is the natural diet of cows, and cattle eat it as well. What you eat becomes you. Cattle who have spent their entire lives grazing on pasture are always healthier than cattle that have been fed grain (which is NOT their natural diet).

Health

Because it includes more Omega-3 fatty acids and antioxidants, as well as less cholesterol and saturated fat, grass-fed beef is healthier. Grass-fed beef offers higher levels of beta-carotene and up to four times the amount of vitamin E, lessening the risk of heart disease and cancer. Grass-fed beef also includes a high concentration of Conjugated Linoleic Acid (CLA), which has been linked to a decreased risk of cancer. Our grass-fed beef is non-GMO certified and free of the hormones and antibiotics required by corn-fed animals to live. Furthermore, Two Brothers Jerky has no nitrates and only employs natural preservatives.

Environment

Grazed grassland consumes less fossil fuel than maize and grain land. Grazed land that is well managed decreases water runoff and produces cleaner, more plentiful water. Grass-fed beef is produced without the use of massive amounts of corn and grain, which might be utilized to feed the roughly one billion people who do not have enough to eat.

Our Cows

Cattle grazing in natural, spacious, and healthy conditions produce grass-fed, grass-finished meat. Grass-fed cattle live more humane, stress-free lives and are not exposed to the filthy conditions prevalent in large, industrial corn-fed lots.

The Taste

Our natural grass-fed, grass-finished beef jerky tastes just like meat should: wonderful! Fresh grass combined with activity results in lean, natural meat that tastes excellent. Grass-fed beef contains no preservatives, is not greasy, and is not artificially textured. It contains perfect texture, mouthwatering real beef flavor, with herbs and spices, and is 100 all natural and made with grass-fed beef.

Grass-Finished

At the start, all-beef producers employ grass-fed cows. The bulk of non-grass-finished cattle is quickly moved to industrial feedlots, where they are "finished" on a grain and maize diet, which comes with all of the problems that grain-fed beef has. Hormones and antibiotics are given to aid in the digestion of the maize and to ensure maximum weight. Our calves are fed and finished on grass, resulting in the most natural and delicious meat conceivable.

What are the Health Benefits

 Maintaining muscle mass

Beef, like all meats, is a great source of high-quality protein hormones. It is a complete protein because it includes all of the required amino acids. Many people, particularly elderly people, do not get enough high-quality protein.

An inadequate protein diet may increase age-related muscle loss, increasing your chances of developing sarcopenia, a potentially deadly condition. Sarcopenia is a serious health issue in the elderly, but it may be prevented or reversed by strength training and an increased protein diet. Animal-derived foods, such as meat, fish, and milk products, are the best sources of protein in the diet.

Regular consumption of beef — or other high-quality protein sources — as part of a balanced diet may aid in the retention of muscle mass, minimizing your risk of sarcopenia.

Improved exercise performance

Carnosine is a chemical that is essential for muscular function. It is derived from beta-alanine, a dietary amino acid present in high concentrations in fish and meat, particularly cattle. Supplementing with high doses of beta-alanine for 4–10 weeks has been proven to boost carnosine levels in muscles by 40–80 percent.

A rigorous vegetarian diet, on the other hand, may result in reduced amounts of carnosine in muscles over time. Carnosine levels in human muscles have been related to decreased tiredness and increased performance during exercise. Furthermore, controlled research indicates that beta-alanine supplementation can increase running time and strength.

Anemia prevention

Anemia is a frequent disorder characterized by a decrease in the number of red blood cells and a decrease in the blood's capacity to transport oxygen. One of the most prevalent causes of anemia is iron deficiency. Tiredness and weakness are the most common symptoms. Beef contains a lot of iron, mostly in the form of heme iron.

Heme iron, which can only be found in animal products, is typically insufficient in vegetarian — and especially vegan — diets. Heme iron is significantly easier for the body to absorb than non-heme iron, which is present in plant-based foods. Thus, meat not only includes a highly accessible kind of iron, but it also boosts non-heme iron absorption from plant diets, a phenomenon known as the "meat factor."

As a result, eating meat is one of the most effective strategies to avoid iron deficiency anemia.

The bottom line

Beef is one of the most popular meats. It's loaded with high-quality protein, vitamins, and minerals. As a result, it has the potential to promote muscle development and maintenance, as well as exercise performance. It may lower your risk of anemia since it is high in iron.

Excessive consumption of processed meat and overcooked meat has been related to an increased risk of heart disease and cancer. In contrast, unprocessed and gently cooked beef is healthy in moderation - especially when accompanied by a healthy lifestyle and a balanced diet.
